These old girls are reasonably approachable for most A&amp;P&#8217;s with some experience in 1960&#8217;s birds like Comanches or Debonairs.  My A&amp;P did a FWF engine for me in 2017 and replaced all the hoses as well.  Some gray hair is needed though IMO. <p>My C model had a 72 Factory reman IO-520.  It crapped the bed 6 years ago with a lite case and non-VAR crankshaft-the most logical solution was a factory reman. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have one on my IO-520 that we just cannot seem to stop a leak.  We are doing what the SB calls for on copper gaskets and torque and it is still leaking.  Anybody using an AirWolf or is there another approved adapter?</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ed, there is no offset in the engine mount or a trim tab on the rudder to deal with significant P-factor when you rotate with a 520 or 550.  You have to somewhat snatch it into ground effect and throw in a lot of right rudder as you keep it aligned with the runway as you retract gear and take off flaps. Meyers has less wing area (at least I think it does), but engine and airframe configuration are very similar.  For sure see his weight limitations.  At gross the Meyers will sink unless you have power in and the flare happens quickly.</p>

My experience (and there are many folks here with much more than mine) is that short field can be tricky as you almost have to get behind the power curve to drop a 200 in. If your A&amp;P is pretty resourceful, I suggest you pull the step and get into the guts and look at the O rings.  They are all in stock, you just need to make sure you source the right diameter.
