Hi Doug, I fly N34386 a 1961 200B with a Lycon IO-550. I personally like the lower cabin height of the A/B models but we don’t have the flush riveted wing. I was told that when the Meyers factory was racing the 200 that they exchanged the wing for a flush riveted one and it didn’t make any difference in speed.

Hi Brent, Congrats for buying a Meyers 200! Plenty of good advice from the other owners. I would add that before putting the gear handle in the down position that you put it in the up position. That way the gear lifts up off the locks and it’s easier to select the down position. Please let us know how your ferry flight home went.

Mark, I normally just keep fuel in my inboard tanks for local flights and my thermos style caps get loose on the empty tanks. I soak them in a small container of 100LL overnight and the rubber on the caps tend to swell up. You can try it but you might need to tighten them also.

I hate to be a spoil sport, I have an oil separator on our 200 and on other aircraft we own / have owned , but you will still have to clean off a fine mist of oil from the belly of your 200. Enjoy rubbing down the grand old dame, she gives us hours and hours of pleasure!

Hi Dean, Yes it has been many years since the last fly-in at our airport (CA32). I have been thinking about another one and it will probably be late April or early May 2019. I will check with some other Meyers owners and see what works for them. Would you be coming out for it? What time would work for you? I would love to see/fly the 200 Matt…[Read more]

The IO-550 and 3 blade prop makes a significant difference in the performance of the 200. My engine was sent to Lycon for head work and puts out 335hp. Fuel burn increases but climb out is way better as is cruise. I’ve owned this Meyers for 30yrs now and every flight really is fun. It feels so nice to fly as you 200 owners already know!

How you run your engine depends on what engine you have, 470/520/550. My 200B has the IO-550F and I generally do short trips of 30 minutes to 1.5 hours at 4500′- 5500′. I’m not concerned about the fuel burn as I like the speed. I will run it at 23″@ 2400 186kts gps ( no wind ) and fuel burn around 19gph.
