Dick,
Apologies for not getting back on here sooner, there were some long delays in the entire application process and some participants had taken options out on Aircraft only for the entire Vintage Air Rally to be delayed until November of this year (http://www.facebook.com/VintageAirRally/posts/711618692365677).
Along with that, although I was…[Read more]

Definitely check the rigging of the ailerons as well as the flaps. And, the flaps have a unique bushing on them that are asymmetrical. If one of them is replaced with an incorrect bushing, it may be a cause of your issue.
Also, since you have a D model 200, check the spring for the aileron trim which is under the front seat. Either remove the…[Read more]

Hi, my plane also turns right. aileron trip I ineffective. The Brittain B4 AP has a wing leveller which also see permanent left aileron input.
I noticed that the left aileron is not in line with the trailing edges of the flap and with the wing tip. In flight it is showing a slight drop at the flap side which induces the right wing low attitude and…[Read more] -

Friends-196M just came out of annual. An item I bring to your attention and unfortunately I do not have pictures. The wing walk area is strengthened by 3 vertical steel supports that are welded to the tubing and riveted top and bottom to the wing surfaces. They are inboard of the flaps and can be seen when the flaps are fully deployed. All 3…[Read more]

Did you ever find this Ken? While looking for something in my docs for how my lock was replaced. Let me know if you’d like a scanned copy.

I found out very quickly that it is not Jamon Pruitt, it is Jam-On Pruitt because that’s what he did… jammed on the red, blue and black knobs to the panel and left them there. What an awesome ride. Still smiling. He even let me hold his first place trophy for a little while. It did take about a week to pick the splinters from my backside f…[Read more]

Actually, that’s not correct. The aileron and elevator trims continue to function even with an autopilot installed and activated.
With the aileron trim, it’s force is very mild so it’s not an issue for the autopilot to override it. All it’s doing is adding additional pressure to the entire system to keep the wings level. And since it’s just a…[Read more]

Dean-If I recall, if an A/P is installed, the system then becomes inop so as to not interfere with the A/P servos, right?
Dan-does the bird have an A/P?

Are you talking about the plastic covers that are attached to the nose bowl itself? It’s just plexiglass. Some owners have purchased stock plexiglass at the hardware store and melted it on a stainless steel bowl in the oven.

Hi Dan,
The Aero-Commander built D model has a different aileron trim system than the earlier Meyers built planes. Meyers versions are indeed hydraulic while the Commander built versions use a spring system which is underneath the front seats. The Commander version isn’t very effective and I know of several owners that just never bothered…[Read more]

I don’t know if S-Tec is certifying their 3100 autopilot in the same way that TruTrak and the other, newer autopilot companies are doing. If they are, I haven’t heard about it.

I’m a little confounded by this headline… Are you implying that they would consider an STC to include the Meyers? The last time I asked it was 100K + some guaranteed number of sales (maybe 6).

How this whole idea got started, I
