ParticipantI saw that the STC Group had added another plane to its list of STC aircraft approved for using the Trio Pro Pilot and reached out to them about possible support of the Meyers 200 series.
https://www.thestcgroupllc.com/
They reported “We do occasionally add niche aircraft to our AML, Cessna 190/195 for example but unfortunately, we have seen rising timelines and costs to add aircraft to our AML. We want to sell 50 units right away just to cover our ROI not only on money but time. Do you know how many aircraft are out there?”
So how many aircraft are still out there? How many are looking for a modern electronic-approved autopilot sold in the $5-7,000 range. Take a look at their site and let them know of your interest and tell us here too so we can all see.
This might be more affordable than the Garmin field approval route…

ParticipantCurrently the Trio Pro Pilot will fly a GPS course line, and if ATC says fly 270, you can dial in 270 into the autopilot and it will fly that “heading” until you let it intercept the previous course.
Also they are in he last stage of getting STC approval to interface with Aspen and G5 EFIS with AV-30 and Skyview in R&D to follow. This will then allow the EFIS to command course and heading changes, and it will fly a flight plan that is provided by the EFIS. Full control of the vertical commands allows altitude hold, climbs and descents, and altitude pre-select. When the EFIS is getting it’s navigation data from approved receivers, it will also fly precision ILS and LNAV approaches.

ParticipantSounds like a good possibility to me. I would certainly be game. I am still in the market to upgrade my whole panel as well. Should have done it already, but had a severe six-figure water damage issue in my condo and needed to stand back for a while. We’re starting to recover from that and should get onto this avionics upgrade situation again shortly. I hope the autopilot opportunities will become available by then.
