I am currently looking into purchasing an airplane and I came across the Meyers 200. It seems to be the perfect plane, but with all things there has to be a downside I have yet to find. Has anyone had any trouble with their Meyers? Things like finding mechanics or parts, and any faulty systems that have to be replaced. Also, what things did you you look into when buying your Meyers. Any help would be great, really trying to make an educated buy so I know what im getting into.
Glad to hear that you’re interested in these great planes! There aren’t many downsides to a Meyers 200. The question of whether it’s right for you basically depends on your typical mission.
The Meyers 200 is best suited to long cross country travel and it’s extremely reliable and efficient in that role. And when I say cross country, I mean across the entire country. I live in Austin, Texas and can very easily fly up to Wichita, Kansas for a meeting and be back home in time for dinner.
Like any other high performance, complex airplane out there, it’s going to be more maintenance intensive than the Cessna 172 or Piper Cherokee. But, that’s because there are two more cylinders, constant speed prop and retractable landing gear to inspect and maintain.
The good news is that compared to other high performance, complex airplanes, it’s actually quite easy to work on and maintain.
