    All-I bit the bullet and replaced the seats in 196M as I know Nelson and Dan have done. I went further though and also replaced the back seats. My A&P took it to the next level and hired a DER to write the report and submit to Oklahoma City. The DER report basically is a STC that is unique to 196M. I found a set of Bonanza seats and hardware from a late 70’s V 35 being parted out and my A&P fabricated the mounting plates for the front seats and attached the rear directly to the plywood base.

    It is amazing how much better they are as compared to the original sets. Higher seat backs with headrests and so much easier to move to and fro.

    Color does not match the existing sidewalls but I’m OK with that for now. I’ll take and post some pictures.
