HappyThanksgiving to everyone, its been a good year for Meyers Racing, 259M took the sport air racing leagues Factory Championship this year, and Ashley Wade the third place factory overall. I have run 10 race over the last 4 years and have won 9 of 10, Nin George knows the only 2nd place finish, using the sport air website and database have some numbers for the races. Round course avg. speeds (7 races) 214.471mph 186.496 knots.. All 10 races avg 213.183mph 185.377knots. the Fastest speed was the Galveston Texas race (Ashley Wade) co-pilot this was great race against a fiery competitor Charles Cluck in a very fast V-tail, This race had 10 turns and we were on the deck at sea level running all out 222.87mph 193.80 knots around the course. Thats 30 inches of manifold and 2850 rpm and a very hot cockpit with the vents taped shut 🙁 Im running a completely stock 520 A case cont. with 2 bladed mccauley with a lightweight starter and alternator GAMI injectors and fine wire plugs have tried some different timing but believe it or knot haha the factory guys have it right at 22 degrees Drag is where i have gained the most speed with flap and horizontal stab adjustments and generalized waxing and clean up. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

Hello all! would like to get all these different models of 200s, with different engines and props the 470/520/550 , and meet up to have a race together and really have some fun tweaking these lil ferraris of the sky. Check out the sport air racing league and sign up, John and I have had a few runs, at race settings 259M will turn 2750rpm at about 27in 2K to 3K altitude will usually indicate about 216-218 mph with a TAS of about 220- 222mph (193Knts) burning 23-24GPH at 75 deg ROP EGT 1425 with CHT around 360 depending on ambient, the real trick to going fast is getting the planes clean and tight with no extra antennas and lights, + good flap and gear door seals, An good trim job by setting the flaps and Horiz stab for a straight and flat running plane ( ball centered and elevator in line at full speed without any excessive trim 🙂 Now at travel setting I cruise = 7K 10K will turn 2350 at 21 inch burning around 16gph and TAS of 200-204mph 177kntas

Make sure your pump is good also could be loss of pressure from worn seals in the pump the spring will usually compress and coil bind with lots of shims “washers” and pressure will go up , probably to high ouch!
