Yes, it’s true, for many years the IO-550-F upgrade was indeed done with a 337 field approval. The -F model is actually very similar to the IO-520-A so there’s no changes to the airframe. Windows that are thicker than standard are also heavier, which is likely why there’s an issue with the FAA.

It wouldn’t be difficult to install them. There’s a steel hoop that goes over you, right in between the two side windows. You’d just have to cut into your roof liner.

Guys, Jamon Pruitt should have a better bead on this. He knows the owners of TruTrak and is co-located with them at the same field. He has been in many discussions with them about the Meyers and they are still not in a position to get us on the list yet. This was my understanding a few months ago. Jamon, what say ye?
