There has been about a question about hangar space at the Fly-In…especially for the OTW’s. We do have hangar space for 3 OTW’s as of now and are working on obtaining more if needed.

If you’re not getting expected True Airspeeds, you might consider rigging the flight controls and the flaps. That can have a huge impact on performance.

Hi Mark,
The only “modern” STC’d autopilot available for the Meyers 200 is the Century 2000. It’s not cheap and can be finicky at times. If you can hold out for a while, TruTrak should have an option for us. Likely available next year. It’s a true digital autopilot with all kinds of modern features. And, at only $5,000 it’s an amazing…[Read more]

We also need a vacu-form in order to make a compound curve that the light covers have. Or, the other option is to make a clay mold of the original and then use it as a form in the oven.

Btw, I own a laser cutter that can do a really nice job cutting out circles, and can even add an engraved logo.
I’ll owe nelson a pair of those…will try to post a picture later today.

Thomas-I replaced all 3 when I did my FWF winter 16/17. I used MacFarlane. Really nice to have new stuff. I can send you the measurements my A&P took that we sent off to MacFarlane. My mixture knob was a mess so I decided to replace the knobs as well.

Definitely check the rigging of the ailerons as well as the flaps. And, the flaps have a unique bushing on them that are asymmetrical. If one of them is replaced with an incorrect bushing, it may be a cause of your issue.
Also, since you have a D model 200, check the spring for the aileron trim which is under the front seat. Either remove the…[Read more]

Friends-196M just came out of annual. An item I bring to your attention and unfortunately I do not have pictures. The wing walk area is strengthened by 3 vertical steel supports that are welded to the tubing and riveted top and bottom to the wing surfaces. They are inboard of the flaps and can be seen when the flaps are fully deployed. All 3…[Read more]

Actually, that’s not correct. The aileron and elevator trims continue to function even with an autopilot installed and activated.
With the aileron trim, it’s force is very mild so it’s not an issue for the autopilot to override it. All it’s doing is adding additional pressure to the entire system to keep the wings level. And since it’s just a…[Read more]

Dean-If I recall, if an A/P is installed, the system then becomes inop so as to not interfere with the A/P servos, right?
Dan-does the bird have an A/P?

Are you talking about the plastic covers that are attached to the nose bowl itself? It’s just plexiglass. Some owners have purchased stock plexiglass at the hardware store and melted it on a stainless steel bowl in the oven.

Hi Dan,
The Aero-Commander built D model has a different aileron trim system than the earlier Meyers built planes. Meyers versions are indeed hydraulic while the Commander built versions use a spring system which is underneath the front seats. The Commander version isn’t very effective and I know of several owners that just never bothered…[Read more]
