I am looking for information on paint schemes for the early OTWs. I know many had unpainted fuselage but mine is to scuffed up to polish. Where there any painted from the factory? If so does anyone have informmation on colors?

    Thank you

Check with Dan or Fred Betzoldt.

I am one of the newest to the OTW’s. Sir John Lyons that posted above is one of the most venerable, having owned an OTW and a 200 for many years. His suggestion about the Betzold family is perfect. Many would probably like to see Fred, Dan or Linda’s response, so please post back here. The three of them are members. There you can type in the last name for search and it will pull all three up and you can do a direct question to them and even invite them to be a friend.

My understanding is that the planes were left unpainted until the supply of AllClad aluminum ran out and then the factory began painting them. If yours is AllClad you should really consider keeping her au naturel. The Nuvite polish compounds can work some amazing feats on what you might consider to be too scuffed up. You’d just have to polish through with some of the heavier grits and work your way up. I just polished Karen’s for a hospital flyover this Friday. Looks incredible. Supposedly the unpainted fueselage with yellow wings and tail section are “correct”.

And sorry… I see I put Allclad not Alclad. Would mess you up if you’re searching.
