We used to race each other at Fly-Ins. The late Doc Morgan usually won the “Scenic Route” award, in our long x-country (not pylon) races. For the benefit of the FAA and the insurance companies, we called them “proficiency exercises.” The most proficient pilot crossed the finish line first. One of the little secrets learned was that with a 2-bladed prop, the ship is fastest at 2500 rpm; any faster and the tips are too close to Mach 1.

Back in the Olden Days (1993), Don Petty sent 200D windows, for making molds, to Aircraft Windshields, 10871 Kyle Street, Los Alamitos CA 90720, Tel 562-430-8108. It was then, and is now, run by Judy Gallo, and has been in business for 50 years. That was a long time ago, and who knows if they can do anything now, but it is worth a try if Cee Bailey is no longer a source. Their website is http://www.aircraftwindshield.com/.

The whole spool valve was a vendor part, custom manufactured for Meyers. I would take the spring to a large dealer and see if they can match it. Century Spring Corp?
