Ed Pulliam replied to the topic Weight and Balance in the forum General- Meyers 200 4 years, 6 months ago

Kevin-welcome to the Meyers team! I do the vast majority of my flying solo. These are great 2 person plus a lot of luggage and full fuel airplanes. My useful load is about 900#. With fuel fuel, that leaves 420# for pilot and pax plus luggage. I weigh 170 and my wife 130 so we have 120# left to be legal. Alternatively, put 60 gallons of fuel…[Read more]

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic "name" for your Meyers when talking to ATC? in the forum General- Meyers 200 4 years, 7 months ago

Ted-I just some more digging on the FAA Registry, etc. In fact it says it is a ‘M200’

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic "name" for your Meyers when talking to ATC? in the forum General- Meyers 200 4 years, 7 months ago

Great question. I have said on many occasions I was ‘an M200C’ and they then start calling me a Mooney. I asked a controller once and he said they did not have a Meyers in the manufacturer list as I recall.

I think if you tell them you are a Commander 200 that will work.

    Others??

I am near Raleigh NC. I know there are a couple of guys in the NE who own 200’s. Dean Siracusa may be able to put you in touch.

Stefano-shame on some of us for not responding sooner! Where do you leave so we can coordinate an opportunity to see a 200 up close?

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic Meyers 200 Engine mount in the forum Meyers 200 4 years, 7 months ago

Gents-I had my mount on my 200C overhauled by Steve Loree at Loree Air in Diamond Springs CA. The 8130 Release references the mount as part number 67R003. The serial number is L3159A.

Mr. Dryden-love you joining the chat and appreciate your informed input. I respect Jody’s opinion but have to agree with you as in knowing a couple of Debbie owners and having flown with them that a Deb is fine airplane, as most of the Beech fleet tends to be.

I have 600 hours in my 200C model and will tell you she is a nice airplane. She is…[Read more]

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic New Guy in the forum Airframe – Meyers 200 4 years, 7 months ago

Jody-your posts are great! Couple of comments. They are great 2 person airplanes and 3 if all are not too big. The 3K# gross weight is definitely a factor, especially if you are full fuel on 80 gallons. I have less concerns about CG (Maybe I should?) but in fact have a 50# bag of sand on the back since 90% plus of my flying is just me.

    I have…[Read more]

Jody-wonderful history and thank you for sharing! I own one of the few C models (8 I think?). These are great airplanes. I certainly hope your search goes well. Please continue to reach out as there as a wealth of knowledge with these owners.

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic 200 Interior Refurb in the forum General- Meyers 200 4 years, 9 months ago

Andy-several of the guys have replaced the front seats via a 337 with Bonanza seats and a custom mount. I did my interior in 2012 using the old seats and wish I had waited. The Bo seats are more conformable, take up less room and are easier to get in and out at inspection time, etc. I also think a 337 for the back seats should be attainable as…[Read more]

Joel-great post and you are thinking correctly! A 200 is a perfect 2 person cross country machine.

I am a little over an hour south of you at KLHZ in NC and own a C model. I would be happy to let us connect and let you see one up close. Let me know and I can PM you.

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic Meyers 200 Insurance in the forum General- Meyers 200 4 years, 10 months ago

Andy-HTG to you and yours. As you might have read, the GA insurance business is in the ditch right now and the underwriters are calling the shots. When I bought my 200 in 2009 I had 1200 TT and a complex sign off to come get 196M. I had to do 5 hours of dual with the owner (an ATP) and then 10 hours of solo before carrying passengers. No way…[Read more]

Good news on the brakes/gear Thomas. I do not think the flaps should be different from one to the other, ie they should be symmetrical.

Mark-your comments are much appreciated. Our doors suck. I wish there was an approved PMA aftermarket to improve. I think Al and his team thought they were on to something but 50 years later they are not much that great.

Bob-welcome to a great group with a special bird. Dean is ‘The Man’ the go to on all things 200 IMHO so you are in excellent hands.

The 200 was recently profiled in Aviation Consumer and for good (or bad), I was allowed to give my opinion. Mark’s comments are spot on. Most A&P’s/IA’s well versed in 1960’s retractables will find the 200 not…[Read more]
