Update: some tweaking of the idle mixture and the engine runs fine. Take off fuel flow ist 28,3 gal/h resulting in good temperatures and performance „as expected“ by us. Annual done and the weather is also improving.
Keep on flying them birds!

Update: had another cylinder overhauled and all rotocaps replaced. On Runup the fuelflow was well below spec. Had the fuel control unit overhauled here in Germany. Came back with factory settings. On run-up engine stalls below 1500 rpm. Need to setup the FCU according to SB. Did anybody venture this way before and has some knowledge to share?

We adjusted low Pitch stop to maximum but no RPM rise. The linkage itself is quite simple to a adjust, but that is not the problem. I will measure the low pitch angle to check for a wear of the propeller. Last overhaul was 2009 and last maintenance was 2020, lubricaction of the hub.
A month before my Mitchell tach showed a malfunction, an…[Read more]

Howdy from Germany,
the last annual reveiled a bad looking exhaust valve on No.3 and the guide had some blowby. Reason was a malfunctioning rotator.
My engine is am Continental remanufacture from 1993 with about 550 hours on it.
There seems to be a problem with this rotators and I suggest that you have a good look at yours valves, especcially if…[Read more] -

Hi Ed, do you see the hole in my foot? I almost shot me one…
No STC for our airplanes and no EASA Approval either. I will have to have him overhauled. Thanks for pointing my nose to this minor bureaucratic problem…

Hi fellow Meyers owners,
My propeller governor is defect. I just get 2550 rpm on static or dynamic take off.
All the other performance data are okay.
I found as an alternative to overhauling the governor is to put a new PCU5000 on the engine.
Any recommendations from y’all?
Thanks and a have great day,
Thomas

Hi Dennis, I recently flew a friend’s c310 with IFD540/440 and really liked them. They seem much more user friendly and so simple to operate. I was ready to jump on them when he had an issue and the avionics shop had to send his 540 back to FL somewhere. He waited many weeks for the repair and it was not inexpensive. SEA is a giant aviation…[Read more]

Does anybody have the correct P/N for the Mitchell RPM tach to replace on a io520 in the M eyers? Mine starts fluttering and I need to order in advance.
My hydraulic pressure instruments shows wrong pressures although it is still sealed. Did anybody have it overhauled in the US? Where would you send it to?Thanks, Thomas

Steve Bauman replied to the topic Any info available for balancing control surfaces? in the forum Flight Controls – Meyers 200 1 year, 1 month ago
Hi guys
The flight controls on the Meyers 200 do NOT need to be balanced when painted. They are controlled by push –pull rods. Aircraft that have control CABLES they are the ones that need to be balanced if painted.
This from the FAA.

Also on ANOTHER change to the IO550-F engine is the 2 bladed prop on the IO520-A is 82 inches, the IO550-F engine requires a 2 bladed prop to be 84 inches.

Hi Ed,
I found the upper intake mount bracket broken on my plane. Caused some vibration. Fixed it but now we chase other problems, like a leaking F&M adapter and a leaking valve cover.
Keep the spirit up.

HI from Germany, I have the same problem. No significant leakage but still a mess after flight.
We will try again and report.

Did the cable break or is it just bound up? If it’s bound up, the process is to remove it, hang it up from the ceiling and pour Kroil penetrating oil into it, until it’s leaking out the bottom. Let it stay there for several days before reinstalling.
Also, regular checking of the elevator trim prior to each flight will also help keep it unb…[Read more]

Yes, the Airwolf is mounted on the firewall. I’ve heard good things about it. My only concern is a hose failure would be catastrophic.
With regards to the F&M (now owned by Tempest), I used one on my IO-520 for years. The only time I had an issue is when a new mechanic would not understand the requirements.
First is that each time the a…[Read more]

I’d definitely pick the Garmin over the King. The KLN 94 is old, clunky and slow compared to the newer Garmin 175.
Also, figure that any of these companies will likely only support their GPS products for 10 years or less after production ends. Production on the KLN 94 has been out of production for a while now, so the clock is ticking. And, t…[Read more]

Did they get lost or break? We lost the ball we had, ordered an entire bag of them! I don’t have the spring though.
