Hi Tom,
Ray’s right strut was flat and it took off with it in that condition. It apparently didn’t catch the bail and just went past it. When the gear came down the bail got in its way.Oh, and my new Meyers 200, N2980T (Tom Wathen’s old plane) has the same gear light system as N489C and I honestly prefer the original way they’re set up as I…[Read more]

One additional tidbit…
A broken gear handle Uplock cable will be apparent because without the Uplock released, the gear UP red light will stay illuminated. Basically one red, two green would indicate the Uplock did not release on the gear indicating red. Instead of trying to find which cable to pull, raise the gear by putting the gear handle i…[Read more]

Ray,
So sorry to hear about your gear extension issues with 489C. As you are aware (but others may not be), your aircraft has a different gear indicating system than other M200s. 489C has a transit lights, where stock aircraft have UP (red) and DOWN (green) lights.
The Gear system of the M200 is quite simple: an engine driven hydraulic pump…[Read more]

That’s a good plane you got from Walt and I’m sure you’ll enjoy flying it.
Do you have any plans for the spare airframe that came with the sale? I have a friend looking for a project.

The issue is rather constant. Injector and line is clear. Baffling is in good condition, but #6 is in a bad spot. Taped the oil fill door. No effect. I will post some pictures.
Did some cross-country (10h in 3 days) in 90° weather because ofhttps://m.facebook.com/groups/stampesv4/
Thanks for the input.

How old is the engine and has it been flying much recently? Oil analysis? I recommend Blackstone.
Which Meyers 200 is this?

If this is a new issue, then yes, it might be a clogged injector. It is summer now so outside temperature does affect things like this too.
If any work was done on the engine (or an annual was just completed) you might also check the baffling. Even if none was replaced, sometimes they get moved backwords or torn. Silicon baffling should bend…[Read more]

Very sorry to hear about that.
There are tons of things I’ve learned over the years, from the late Keith Diver and other owners, that aren’t actually in the manual, or the maintenance manual. Not operating on flat struts is one of those items.
Once you learn how the gear works (and the importance of properly inflated struts to grab the inner…[Read more]

I recently have a gear failure on my Meyers. I was flying the plane to a maintenance shop to have a low strut filled. When retracting the gear, the right strut (the low one) did not extend. Because of this, as the gear went up, the tire was able to pass by the bail tube which closes the gear door. Of course I did not know this at the time. After…[Read more]

Thomas-If the baffling is tight and no other obstructions are there you might check the fuel injector for that cylinder. Might be clogged? If it is clean, I would borescope to make sure nothing is going on with the exhaust valve.
Let us know what you find. I normally see on hottest days CHT’s at 380 or so as you referenced.

Hi fellows,
Summer time has finally arrived and temperatures are increasing. My CHT on #6 is on takeoff getting to 420 degrees F despite going to 120 knots cruise climb. The other CHTs are 30-50 degrees F cooler. EGTS are about the same. Baffling is okay. Any ideas how to get this cylinder cooler?
Thanks,
Thomas..
