Hello Thomas from NC, USA. Bob Fields was a standard ‘go to’ as I understand it at one time but there are a lot of stories the last few years of non-performance so I would go into any transaction eyes wide open and credit card only. I have heard feedback is spotty and follow through is all but non existent.
Certainly I hope others have recent,…[Read more]

Hi from Germany,
Has anybody got into https://aerocessories.aero/?
They make inflatable door seals and as the door of our Meyers and that of the advertised planes is very similar the seal might work?
Just fixed Air box and going for a spin today..

I am one of the newest to the OTW’s. Sir John Lyons that posted above is one of the most venerable, having owned an OTW and a 200 for many years. His suggestion about the Betzold family is perfect. Many would probably like to see Fred, Dan or Linda’s response, so please post back here. The three of them are members. To contact them click on…[Read more]

I have adjusted the half turns slightly to get the pitch contlol pressure I like for take off and initial climb.

Prior to take off, my partner would rotate the elevator trim nob full nose down and then back eight half turns. I have recently had the elevator trim reworked and adjusted according to specks. I now rotate full nose down and then back four half turns for take off. This adjustes the gauge where it should be for take off and is a little more…[Read more]

Tom-great info and thank you! Great stuff for me to work on next time I am out there. I flew safety pilot on Wed in a SR 22-my first Cirrus ride. Amazing how different from our old gals.
Andy-did you purchase Flip Comer’s 200?
And in the trim indicator-you are correct, it does not move much. As you are finding out, a slight twist of trim in…[Read more]

Ed,
Try entering the pattern, or doing closed patterns by reducing power to 15” MP once you’ve reached your downwind altitude (should be ~120 mph), then at midfield put the gear down, which should slow you to about 100 mph, then add 20 flaps abeam your touchdown point and reduce power to just above idle. This may get you the parameters I men…[Read more]

Hi Ed,
I typically fly a little slower than most, but 100 mph on DW, 90 mph on base, and crossing the fence (just short of threshold at 85 mph works fine for me. I carry a little bit of power into the flare, and roll it off as the nose comes up. You don’t want to try to flare at 80 mph without any throttle, as it will sink through to a c…[Read more]

Ed Pulliam replied to the topic Conversation in the forum Meyers 200 5 years, 5 months ago
Thanks Andy. There are so many things to throw out there. Maintenance, operations, lessons learned, etc.
For example-I had a great phone call a ways back with Nels Harding about approach speeds and pattern work and what to do given our 30’6″ wing span and the fact we give out of wing and sink like a rock below 100 MPH with MP below 15″. I have…[Read more]

Folks, I continue to be disappointed in the lack of participation among us as 200 owners. There are less than 100 of us with these gems and I see stuff posted with little response or feedback. I track the Twin Cessna and Beech Talk folks and they are very engaged. How do we change this??

I posted back in January that my 180 hours SFREMAN IO-520 was running poorly and cutting off at idle. After messing with re-setting pressures, my A&P/IA pulled the fuel pump and sent it off. It was full of trash and had to be overhauled. All the hoses were replaced at OH but the guys said the trash looked like flashing from inside the hoses…[Read more]

Ashley Wade started the topic Turn & Bank Service in the forum Avionics – Meyers OTW 5 years, 8 months ago
OTW #40 has an A-11 military type turn and bank in each of the cockpits, one of which is inop. There is a port on the side for oil. Does this oil ever require servicing? I could not find a maintenance manual for the instrument online. Wondering if I can resurrect the inop and also keep the functional one going.
Thanks Meyers brain trust,
Ashley
