Andy-are you talking about when you set flaps? Or when you set trim?

Thanks Andy. There are so many things to throw out there. Maintenance, operations, lessons learned, etc.
For example-I had a great phone call a ways back with Nels Harding about approach speeds and pattern work and what to do given our 30’6″ wing span and the fact we give out of wing and sink like a rock below 100 MPH with MP below 15″. I have…[Read more]

Folks, I continue to be disappointed in the lack of participation among us as 200 owners. There are less than 100 of us with these gems and I see stuff posted with little response or feedback. I track the Twin Cessna and Beech Talk folks and they are very engaged. How do we change this??

I posted back in January that my 180 hours SFREMAN IO-520 was running poorly and cutting off at idle. After messing with re-setting pressures, my A&P/IA pulled the fuel pump and sent it off. It was full of trash and had to be overhauled. All the hoses were replaced at OH but the guys said the trash looked like flashing from inside the hoses…[Read more]

Great commentary Ashley. I think one of the reasons why my A&P was successful first time (watch-now I will jinx myself) is he was a BIG go-to Bonanza guy here in NC. I am sure that probably factored in.
I am having a blast right now trying to trouble shoot a fuel flow problem on a 180 hours SFREMAN engine. Found fuel pump full of crap and…[Read more]

I reached out to Joan and asked her if she had any rudder caps to replace the strobes if they were removed and she did not. Any idea on how to get one fabricated? I know I saw a couple at the 13 fly in in Tecumseh. I bet a number of folks would be interested in a cap if we would get them fabricated.

Ray-I had mine overhauled by a guy out on the west coast. He did a really good job if that is a path you want to pursue.

A big shout out to Joan Diver. I had a pilot seat bracket crack in half. Dan McLeod suggested I contact Joan and sure enough-she had the OEM brackets. I was back in business in less than 2 weeks.
Thank you Joan!!

Tom, my A&P rebuilt the step and as I recall, just took it apart and cleaned and sized and replaced the o rings.

Greg-see a post below that I just saw on the Twin Cessna site and copied and pasting here. Food for thought.
I read once on a forum “The cheapest airplane you can buy is the most expensive one!”
Our recent search for a Twin Cessna has brought back to mind some thoughts of things learned from my previous aircraft search and purchase. And thi…[Read more]

Tom, is our 200 fleet on the Garmin AML for the G 5 or did you get a field 337?

Greg, when I sold my Archer in 2000 my partners and I bought a C 182. Picked up 15 knots plus useful load. It was prefect for the flying I was doing then. We sold it during the recession in 2008 and I bought (without partners) the Meyers 10 years ago and now have 500 hours in her. I have also not looked back, although I have spent a ton of…[Read more]

Peter, there are others more knowledgeable than I, but there are 4 separate 20 gallon metal tanks that are each connected to the fuel selector in the cockpit. It is set up as a main and aux on each wing. The fuel selector is a single selector and has a detente for each tank and one for the Off position.
I am unaware of an approved replacement.…[Read more]

Chris-I have not had any issues with the bushings. My IA found a bolt installed backwards that was casing the flap to bind when it extended but it was easily rectified. Do the bushings look like off the shelf? Perhaps Dave Smith or Nelson Harding can respond.
