    All:

The Wright Brothers 50-year Flying Safety award for Captain Downey will be presented @ NAS National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, October 10, 2019, IN the museum on the flight deck of a WWII Aircraft Carrier. Very fitting as the area is surrounded by many of the airplanes Chuck flew. Stand by for further information as the plan…[Read more]

Take some pictures of it and share them. It’s likely something that could be fabricated.

We’re upgrading N200HS to an IO-550-F which also requires a prop upgrade. If anyone is interested in a used McCauley prop, please let me know. It has approximately 1069 hours on it.

Some of us have already been to the Waco Factory and Air Zoo during a previous Meyers Fly-In. Possibly there could be an alternative for those that have already been there.

Dean Siracusa started the topic TruTrak Autopilot for Meyers 200 in the forum Avionics – Meyers 200 7 years, 1 month ago

TruTrack is almost ready to create the STC for our Meyers 200s! In order to gauge their popularity, they’ve asked me to inquire with all the owners to see how many people would be interested in buying an all-new digital autopilot for their plane.

The cost of the autopilot will be $5,000 and installation is said to take roughly 30 hours.

    This…[Read more]

If you’re not getting expected True Airspeeds, you might consider rigging the flight controls and the flaps. That can have a huge impact on performance.

    Hi Mark,
The only “modern” STC’d autopilot available for the Meyers 200 is the Century 2000. It’s not cheap and can be finicky at times.

If you can hold out for a while, TruTrak should have an option for us. Likely available next year. It’s a true digital autopilot with all kinds of modern features. And, at only $5,000 it’s an amazing…[Read more]

We also need a vacu-form in order to make a compound curve that the light covers have. Or, the other option is to make a clay mold of the original and then use it as a form in the oven.

Dean Siracusa replied to the topic Hydraulic aileron trim in the forum Airframe – Meyers 200 7 years, 5 months ago

Definitely check the rigging of the ailerons as well as the flaps. And, the flaps have a unique bushing on them that are asymmetrical. If one of them is replaced with an incorrect bushing, it may be a cause of your issue.

Also, since you have a D model 200, check the spring for the aileron trim which is under the front seat. Either remove the…[Read more]

Dean Siracusa replied to the topic Hydraulic aileron trim in the forum Airframe – Meyers 200 7 years, 5 months ago

Actually, that’s not correct. The aileron and elevator trims continue to function even with an autopilot installed and activated.

With the aileron trim, it’s force is very mild so it’s not an issue for the autopilot to override it. All it’s doing is adding additional pressure to the entire system to keep the wings level. And since it’s just a…[Read more]

Are you talking about the plastic covers that are attached to the nose bowl itself? It’s just plexiglass. Some owners have purchased stock plexiglass at the hardware store and melted it on a stainless steel bowl in the oven.

Dean Siracusa replied to the topic Hydraulic aileron trim in the forum Airframe – Meyers 200 7 years, 5 months ago

    Hi Dan,
The Aero-Commander built D model has a different aileron trim system than the earlier Meyers built planes. Meyers versions are indeed hydraulic while the Commander built versions use a spring system which is underneath the front seats.

The Commander version isn’t very effective and I know of several owners that just never bothered…[Read more]

Dean Siracusa replied to the topic STC Approval Approaching – S-Tec 3100 in the forum Avionics – Meyers 200 7 years, 5 months ago

I don’t know if S-Tec is certifying their 3100 autopilot in the same way that TruTrak and the other, newer autopilot companies are doing. If they are, I haven’t heard about it.
