Hello Bob and thanks for sharing some of your Meyers journey with us. Dean, Mark and Ed have answered all of your questions, but I thought I would add some details.
When you buy one of these planes you are really buying into a family. The Owner’s Association is very strong and even safely met this yer in Sedona despite the virus. You will…[Read more]

Bob-welcome to a great group with a special bird. Dean is ‘The Man’ the go to on all things 200 IMHO so you are in excellent hands.
The 200 was recently profiled in Aviation Consumer and for good (or bad), I was allowed to give my opinion. Mark’s comments are spot on. Most A&P’s/IA’s well versed in 1960’s retractables will find the 200 not…[Read more]

Hi Bob,
I have owned and enjoyed my Meyers since September 2001. The Meyers 200 is a great airplane. Unfortunately, I am dealing with the FAA on some special issuance issues. I still have my class three medical but at age 77 I have put my aircraft, N2983T, on the market.
Concerning your questions, take off and go around take some getting used…[Read more]

Hi Doug,
I have owned my 200D sence September 2001. They are great airplanes. They are especialy good for cross county flights with good speed and the capability for long legs. I usually fly at altitudes from 7 to 9,000 MSL. My opinion is that my Meyers is very stable, it can be easily trimed hands off, and it handles turbulence very well.…[Read more]

Good afternoon Chris. Karen and I were unable to make Sedona due to Hurricane Laura direct hit. Both planes damaged, OTW extensive 200 will just end up with a new paint job.
The folks that did attend voted for Fredircksburg, TX and the Hangar Hotel as the 2021 fly in destination. Steve Freeman couldn’t run away fast enough/is too polite so he…[Read more]

Hey-anyone out there that can fill Chris and the rest of us in?
Most frustrating. The Twin Cessna and Bonanza sites put us to shame.

Mark, Contact Steve Freeman or Phil Hart. Click on Members from the menu above and you’ll see them. They have a cool design that has a fluted neck which keeps water intrusion out. When we rebuilt the engine in 749C we changed all of the hoses and pulled the tanks. Wish I’d know about it beforehand. My plane rarely sit out except for Oshkosh…[Read more]

Ashley Wade replied to the topic Wing walk area in the forum Restoration / Rebuilding – Meyers OTW 5 years ago
Our OTW also has the aluminum wing walk area. I do not believe that it is original. Send an instant message to Jim Jones (in this site’s directory) and either he or Mike Barg will know for sure. If you could, please post back anything you find out here to the site for the benefit of all.

Ashley Wade replied to the topic I pad yoke or panel mounts in the forum Avionics – Meyers 200 5 years ago
Hello Ed,
I’ve tried all kinds of combinations as I’ve upgraded iPads over the years. I’ve always used the full sized iPads and have them linked to the GTN 650 via a flighstream 210. After having tow RAM yoke mounts that I loved on the older iPads I was disappointed with the fit of the iPad Pro mount. I was going to switch to their X Mount to…[Read more]

Welcome, Doug,
What is you mission for your aircraft? Whatever it may be, a 200 can probably fill it. My wife and I race ours (we’re the current Spot Air Race Leauge champions for production aircraft), I use it for cross country business travel, we’ve camped out with her at MAOA Member Steve Freeman’s air museum and last weekend took our…[Read more]

Congratulations Brent and welcome to the family! I wish that you’d been able to make it to the annual fly in which was held in Sedona, especially since you were in Phoenix. My wife and I didn’t make it due to damages to both planes (a 200 A model and a Meyers OTW) by Hurricane Laura. Next year you will be able to fly back in to Fredricksburg…[Read more]

Welcome Doug!
As you may have noticed, we are passionate about our planes and enjoy the time we are able to put into preserving the fleet. Several have been upgraded to the IO-550, which is an amazing enhancement to the original design. Others have spent substantial resources on upgrading their avionics to make these fast cross country machines…[Read more]

Friends-I am using Foreflight on a Mini and am curious as to what you are doing for a mount, either panel, glareshield or yoke and what folks believe is the best solution. Would appreciate you posting any pictures as well.

Hi Doug, I fly N34386 a 1961 200B with a Lycon IO-550. I personally like the lower cabin height of the A/B models but we don’t have the flush riveted wing. I was told that when the Meyers factory was racing the 200 that they exchanged the wing for a flush riveted one and it didn’t make any difference in speed.

Hey Doug-welcome! These are unique and delightful airplanes and there is a wealth of knowledge on this site from folks who have a lot more left seat time than I.
You might try Essco and see what they have in AFM’s (if you can call them that). As you might imagine, the info is pretty sparse and before the FAA mandated more in depth…[Read more]

Great Brent! Greg’s advice is another tidbit as it makes sense to pressurize the system before you drop the gear. Yes, replace to LED ASAP. When I redid my panel in 2017 we moved lights to over the gear handle. Much more logical now.
Your 10 hours of CC will pay dividends in the future. Spending the next 5 hours close to home on air work and…[Read more]
