Dusty-that’s interesting. The yokes on 196M were replaced before I acquired her with the Bonanza yokes per the 337. The autopilot is a Century III. So the 2000 install required you to turn the yokes upside down??

I’ll post an update on my install. I had a set of other work done at the time, so I don’t recall the cost of the work done specifically for the autopilot.
I previous had a century 2000 with integrated electric trim, and century altitude pre-select.
While the system was functional, I considered it a bit mickey mouse. When tuned properly, it…[Read more]

I probably should have considered this a lot sooner, but we’d like to get a sense for who will be attending the Fly-in this year in Carson City to facilitate some last minute planning that is going on. In this

Also, get a manual from Essco. Google it. Hayes brakes. I’ve never seen a manual for just the brakes, but airframe manual gives a wee bit of info.

I adjust mine like old manual brake drums, tighten till they drag then back em off.
Taxi and adjust if needed.
Be careful, the manual brakes are grabby as heck. Mine consistently grab in left side no matter what I do.

Hi John, Doug from the B17 crew here. I’m at OSH and took a look at your beauty. Nice.
I run a OTW so can’t comment on yours but the members here are quite helpful.
I use 30w, was told by OTW guys.
Fly safe!

Good day all,
I am a fairly recent owner of a MAC-145, serial number 209. I believe that I read somewhere that the main gear shock struts use something besides MIL5606. I thought I read that they use straight weight non-detergent motor oil.Any help with what I need to use would be most appreciated.

Avidyne tried to hire me a few years ago. They said their biggest obstacle was getting shops to carry and recommend their stuff. When people actually try it they are sold (I was). It’s better.
For the shops Garmin is an easier sell. Customers know it and generally accept it. It works well, and they’ve done a great job building an ecosystem…[Read more]

Thanks Dennis, I’m tardy in my reply. I think both Garmin and Avidyne are quite expensive in the repair/flat rate repair department. I much prefer the Avidyne overall, but it seems so few shops (that I have had contact with) will recommend or even want to sell them. Garmin definitely has the grips on the business, and I guess some folks should…[Read more]

To Ashley, and others that have done “the Mod”. Not many comments after the installations, I am hopeful for some reports from the others that have done it. How long waited, how much $$, how satisfied, any regrets/wishing for another system, etc? Just finally getting to some avionics improvements on mine, the stuff Ashley mentioned is mostly…[Read more]
