The 2020 Meyers Aircraft Owners Association Fly-In has been set for September 9-13 at KSEZ in Sedona, Arizona as voted on during the 2019 Fly-In. This spectacular airport is one of the most scenic in the country! For aircraft flying to KSEZ, the airport has offered to discount our fuel purchases by 20 cents and gallon and waive overnight fees for aircraft taking on fuel during their stay. Overnight fees are $10 per night for those not taking fuel.
Our host hotel this year will be the Andante inn (www.andanteinn.com). Rooms are available to our group at a discounted rate using the group code “meyers” (all lower-case) and are as follows: $139 for Wednesday and Thursday, $169 for Friday, and $199 for Saturday. You can also call them direct at 928-282-1533 and ask for the Meyers rate. Please note that September is the peak travel month for Sedona and accommodations do fill up quickly. Also, the timing, as requested by the MAOA vote, will be the week before the Reno Air Races.
Activities planned so far include a historic and scenic train ride aboard the Verde Canyon Railroad (www.verdecanyonrr.com) for Friday, September 11, 2020. Most of our members will be traveling in the first class section on the train. The posted rate on the website for first class travel is $99.00 however, they do offer military discounts and AARP discounts. Please book your reservations by calling 800-293-7245 (preferred method) and mention that you are with Ross Warner of the Meyers Aircraft Owners so we can keep the group together in the same car.
Our annual dinner banquet, awards, and auction will take place in the evening on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Relics Restaurant & Roadhouse at Historic Rainbows End (www.relicsrestaurant.com). This historic landmark is within walking distance of the Andante Inn. Since they will be setting up a banquet for our group, we will need to know who will be attending the banquet before September 1, 2020. Please call Ross Warner at 269-369-1052 to confirm your attendance at the banquet. Also, we will schedule maintenance meetings at the airport for Saturday morning followed by lunch at the airport restaurant or on your own.
We always look forward to the fellowship of our Meyers family (the family that you ALWAYS enjoy seeing) and this year’s venue in Arizona will make that time extra special! Some highlights of the area include Red Rock State, Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock State Park, Chapel of the Holy Cross, and Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. Please check the following websites for additional things to do in Sedona: visitsedona.com and visitarizona.com or just Google. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments about the fly-in, please message Karen Wade in the members section of this website. More information will coming soon!
