Ross,
I ordered 6 Whelen A315LO lights for under the glare shield. They should hopefully be very close to the lights in the pictures you sent me.Currently I’m in the process of stripping the exterior paint. All control surfaces have been removed as well as the wings, vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer, door, and front wheel bay d…[Read more]

Thank you for clearing that up for me Ross.
I have started the restoration of N413KS, previously N427VV, and would like to maintain the original interior panel lighting operation if possible. We are installing 4 Garmin GI275 replacing the DG, AI, CDI, and an EIS. As these are backlit, this leaves only the airspeed, altitude, vertical speed,…[Read more]

Keven, the glare shield is most definitely the overhang of the dashboard. The white lights would be mounted under to illuminate everything below in white light. They may have been removed by a previous owner? Hopes this helps. Ross

Ross, thank you for the explanation.
Forgive my ignorance, when you refer to the glare shield, is that the overhang of the dashboard?
If so, mine must have been recovered at some point because I don’t have any lights at that location.
I do have some post lights that are above the top row of instruments, but they are wired with the red lights. T…[Read more] -

Hello Kevin. The second position for your panel light controls white light bulbs (four?) under the glare shield. Your bulbs may be burned out or a power wire detached. Ross

I’ve seen some very nice leather wraps on the 200D yokes. Could someone suggest who I may contact for this work? Wanted to re-due the ptt switch and possibly add an autopilot disengage switch.
Thanks,

1966 200D: N413KS
Could someone be kind enough to explain how the original panel lights were arranged?
I have red post lights located over every instrument, controlled by the original dimmer/switch.
This dimmer also contains a second switch contact you can close for white lights. I don’t have any white lights, so I was curious as to the o…[Read more]

just installed the garmin 500 auto pilot. Works good, Stein Air install with 337 Field Approval. No electric trim but the auto pilot is easy to use with out it. It will handle the up/down thermals with out re trimming during the level flight.

I just need to watch it, Keep it cool with fuel and airspeed from the start. I need to run 2400rpm 21″ and 14+ gph to keep it under 380deg.
